Prolotherapy

What is prolotherapy?
Weakened ligaments and tendons A treatment that induces the body to regenerate on its own. An injection containing concentrated dextrose is given at tendon and ligament attachment sites, which have poor circulation and therefore do not improve quickly.
Mild inflammation awakens the healing response, new collagen forms and recovery accelerates, and as this collagen contracts it tightens the stretched ligament, so that joint stability improves beyond what it was.
Which conditions is it used for?

It may be used across a wide range of ligament, tendon, and joint conditions, including tennis and golfer's elbow, ankle and wrist ligament injury, partial rotator cuff tears, and chronic cervical and lumbar myofascial pain.
The drawback is that the effect appears gradually and treatment must be repeated over several sessions. Because the principle is to induce tissue regeneration, a course lasts from as little as two weeks to as long as one to three months. The hypertonic solution causes mild discomfort during injection, but it is not severe and there are no significant side effects. We inject with a fine needle under ultrasound guidance to keep discomfort to a minimum.
